چکیده

Kenaf (Hibiscus cannabinus L.) has been considered one of the alternative crops for bioenergy production, potentially replacing fossil fuel. However, there are few studies available on systematically investigating kenaf growth characteristics and its fertilization conditions so far. Our study investigated biomass productivity soil properties at different regimes including three major treatments (N, P2O5, K2O) with four application levels [0%-50%-100% (as recommended), 200%] in a reclaimed paddy during pot experiment under upland condition 2021. The results showed maximum was observed when 158 kg ha-1 N, 156 P2O5 102 K2O were applied, showing 62.6 g d.w pot-1, 64.1 64.9 respectively. revealed that mainly positive correlations electrical conductivity (EC) total N contents soils, suggesting these could be limiting factors production. provides better understanding producing biomass, filling gap promising nutrient management strategy optimum production southern soils. The effect inorganic experiment.

Genetic Control of Fiber Yield and Quality in Kenaf (Hibiscus cannabinus L.)

The study was conducted to investigate the ge-netic basis of kenaf fiber yield and quality In two sets of generations derived from 1X51 x Gha-na07 and Gregg x Ghana07 crosses. Analysis of generation means using weighted least squares procedure was performed on stalk dry weight, bast percentage, days to flowering, plant height, and basal stalk diameter . Analysis of generation means revealed tha...

Effect of Organic and Chemical Nitrogen Fertilizers on Grain Yield and Yield Components of Wheat and Soil Fertility

Effects of organic manure (poultry manure) applied alone and integrated with inorganic fertilizer (urea) on yield and yield component, N-uptake and soil fertility in wheat-maize cropping system was evaluated in a field experiment at Nuclear Institute for Food and Agriculture, Peshawar, Pakistan. Poultry manure was applied alone and were integrated in different proportions with mineral nitrogeno...

Characterization of Hydrocarbon-Utilizing Bacteria Associated with Kenaf (Hibiscus cannabinus L.) Plant Grown in a Niger Delta Soil

Hydrocarbon Utilizing Bacteria (HUB) were isolated at the juvenile and maturity stages from the core and rhizosphere of Tianung 1, Tianung 2 and Cuba 108 accessions of Kenaf (Hibiscus cannabinus) plant grown in a hydrocarbon unimpacted soil in the Niger Delta Area. Standard culture dependent techniques were used for the enumeration of heterotrophic and hydrocarbon-utilizing bacteria while PCR a...

Reference genes selection for transcript normalization in kenaf (Hibiscus cannabinus L.) under salinity and drought stress.

Kenaf (Hibiscus cannabinus) is an economic and ecological fiber crop but suffers severe losses in fiber yield and quality under the stressful conditions of excess salinity and drought. To explore the mechanisms by which kenaf responds to excess salinity and drought, gene expression was performed at the transcriptomic level using RNA-seq. Thus, it is crucial to have a suitable set of reference g...

Characterization of Developmental- and Stress-Mediated Expression of Cinnamoyl-CoA Reductase in Kenaf (Hibiscus cannabinus L.)

Cinnamoyl-CoA reductase (CCR) is an important enzyme for lignin biosynthesis as it catalyzes the first specific committed step in monolignol biosynthesis. We have cloned a full length coding sequence of CCR from kenaf (Hibiscus cannabinus L.), which contains a 1,020-bp open reading frame (ORF), encoding 339 amino acids of 37.37 kDa, with an isoelectric point (pI) of 6.27 (JX524276, HcCCR2). BLA...
